Some of our high achieving Year 9 girls got to take part in a ‘women in engineering’ session. The engineering firm WOOD came in and explained who they are and the type of projects they are involved with, including airports and nuclear power stations. The students then had to solve a cargo carrying problem and build their solution. The cargo was an egg so a robust design was required!
The cargo carrying solutions were then tested and had to meet various criteria with prizes awarded for the most effective. The students all participated fully and hopefully some of them may be inspired to become engineers in the future.
Thank you to the staff at WOOD for delivering a fun and inspiring session.
